I am a teacher out at Moon Area Middle School. We have just lost our DARE program in 6th grade. Is this happening to anyone else? If so how are you implementing the standards needed without the DARE program?

That is terrbile. D.A.R.E is strong at Fox Chapel. At the middle school we have a full-time officer who is stationed in the building who teaches D.A.R.E. among some other duties. I think it has to do with funding of the local police department because I know he is paid via the municipality and not through the school district.
The program will go on in the elementary schools but has been cut at ours. The officer teaching it does not want that much time in the school. I can understand his passion to be out on the road but someone else could have stepped in. O well We will try next year.
