Traditional Sport vs. New Activities

Do you think that Physical Education should be going in the direction of new activities (Tchoukball, Wii, DDR) or traditional sport(Football, Basketball, soccer)?

I think it all needs to be incorporated. At times it seems that physical educators contradict themselves, one min it seems as though they are saying don’t do team games or play games in P.E. class it should be fitness related, (Exercises, weight lifting, cardio,). Then others are saying you need to be active through team games and sports, and now with technology a lot of people say that this is the way you need to go. I personally think that a balance between all is best, in an ideal class you would have a facility with a huge weight room and indoor/outdoor facility to play games and huge arcade of fitness games, but the majority of schools barely have one of those items off the wish list.

I'm in favor of traditional sports. I know kids like probably video games more but I think you get more out of playing traditional sports. The cordination, balance, strength, agility, mobility, and the uncontrolable are things tvideo games may not have and if they have one that defintley do not have all of these attributes.

I think we need both. Everybody has different interests. Some people want/need sport to be physically active. Some need more of a motivation. I just think people need to do what works for them.
