I just finished writing the grant for highmark. The process was easy just time consuming. If anyone is interested feel free to contact me and i can give you any help you need. The best thing is if you write it for 2008 you are eligable for another grant in January of 2009!

How many hours did you put into writing the grant? Did you have any physical educators give you input into writing the grant?

I to am curious as to how much time you had to put into writing the grant. Also was there any limitations put on you as far as if you receive the grant.. there are certain things you must purchase?
The grant took me about 3-4 hours of actual writing. It really is not that hard once you get going. The biggest thing is create a program first and then write it to that program. So if you are creating a wellness program, write it as if you were creating lesson plans for how it would run and how you would assess it.
The thing that took the longest was getting together all the quotes and finding the cheapest items. Good luck and if you need help let me know

I basically put together the bulk of the work. When I was done writing the details, I got somebody else in our school to type it. Basically this person in our school is acting as the grant writer but is leaning on me to help with the details.
Naturally the cut the work of the application process. I would find out if somebody else could type the information as well as proof reading it and go from there.
There did not appear to be any limitation on what you could purchase but the grant was to be no more than $10,000. Our application is going for as much as we can get.
I would recommend that PE teachers all over the area fill out the application. The Highmark Healthy High 5 grant application is probably going to be one of the easier documents we will find.
